DTN COMMENTS: We are off to a slow start this morning, so far, no bids
or asking prices have been renewed, but the trend of this week continues
a little trade will take place at some point today. Beef cutouts are
expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
So far this week, a light trade has taken place every day with some
pretty wide ranges. Northern dressed deals have sported a range of $400
to $410, mostly $405 to $410, $2 to $7 higher than last week's weighted
averages. Southern live deals have had a range of $260 to $265, mostly
$260 to $262, $3 to $5 higher than the prior week's weighted averages.
For the period of May 1 through May 7, Net beef sales of 7,500 MT for
2026 were down 25 percent from the previous week and 41 percent from the
prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Mexico (2,000 MT),
South Korea (1,300 MT), Taiwan (1,000 MT), Japan (800 MT), and Canada
(800 MT). Exports of 12,500 MT were down 12 percent from the previous
week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were
primarily to South Korea (4,300 MT), Japan (3,200 MT), Mexico (1,400 MT),
Taiwan (1,000 MT), and Hong Kong (900 MT).
